Welcome to Middlethorpe Primary Academy’s Blog!

We hope that you enjoy browsing through our wonderful learning experiences as much as we have enjoyed being part of them. At Middlethorpe we believe in memorable learning, learning that sticks and most importantly inspiring a love of learning. Our dedicated staff, children and parents make this academy what it is- a family, a community but with a cutting edge when it comes to moving education forward. We know the world that our children will enter as adults is difficult to imagine and for that reason we are committed to giving children the skills to learn and relearn. We do this in a variety of ways; Building Learning Power, Talk for Learning and our new, evolving Enquiry Focused Curriculum. As the new Principal of this amazing academy, I have been overwhelmed by the way our pupils conduct themselves and use their learning powers. They glow with curiosity, a love of learning, will and determination. It is always the highlight of my day when the children come to show me what they have been up to. Below are the happy faces of Taurus, Noah and Sophie after they discovered a dinosaur bone and Charlie’s dream- catcher created for the BFG!

Our Roald Dahl birthday celebrations were incredible and it was great to see so many families enjoying a good book! Thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate. We will have many, many more opportunities for you to come and see what learning is like at Middlethorpe as we move through the year. We will aim to offer these events at different times of the day to suit all working patterns.

We believe that reading is the passport learning, as Dr Seuss said, ‘The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go’. We offer a variety of opportunities for our pupils to read including; reading books, Bug Club, lunchtime reading club and our library service.

This academic year is already shaping up to be the best yet at Middlethorpe. I look forward to working with children, staff and parents to give our children a world-class educational experience. If you have any questions, compliments or queries then please pop and see me at the gate in a morning or evening, send me an email or make an appointment at the office.

Here’s to a great year of learning at Middlethorpe Primary Academy.
