A Great Start and Academy Council Elections!

We have had a great start to the new academic year. I can’t believe that we have already been back for five weeks – time certainly does fly when you are having fun! The best part of my job is when our amazing children arrive at my office door to celebrate their achievements. If pupils are seen to be using their learning powers or putting an incredible amount of effort into their learning, they come to see me to celebrate. I have seen so much amazing learning! I am so proud of the fantastic children and staff at our academy.

Above are photographs of just a small selection of celebrations of learning that I have been lucky enough to be part of. Finnley is pictured with his amazing home learning- a shield designed as his family crest. The next picture is not a 3D castle model, it is actually a cake! Gracie in year 6 brought this masterpiece to show me. I look forward to seeing her on the Great British Bake Off in a few years time. Next are a group of children from class 5 who brought me their reading records to celebrate the amount of time that they are dedicating to reading. The final photograph is class 4 children showing me the dream catchers that they have been making at home. I am so proud of all of the effort that everyone is putting into all that they do. Keep it up.

This week has seen the very exciting Academy Council Elections. This year, two boys and two girls were selected in every class. These pupils then worked with me to write a speech and they presented this speech in a special assembly on Friday 7th October.

In year 2, Violet, Evie-Mae, Isaac and Luke  were brave and confident.

In year 3, Joshua, Sam, Ava-Rose and Ashleigh gave it their all!

In year 4, Freya, Maddison, Raiden and Jamie put their heart and soul into their speeches.

In year 5 Gracie, Mia, Taurus and Ethan blew our socks off with  maturity and poise!

In year 6, Kody, Finley, Tily and Frankie were amazing ambassadors for Middlethorpe.

Every one did themselves proud!  Having listened to the speeches, all of our pupils took part in a secret poll, made votes and placed them in a ballot box. This gives them a chance to experience the democratic process of voting from a young age. The votes were counted and verified and our new academy council is….

Violet, Luke, Sam, Ashleigh, Maddison, Raiden, Mia, Taurus, Kody and Tilly.

Congratulations and well done! We would all like to say a huge well done to everyone who was nominated. You make me feel extremely proud to be your Principal!
